IN IKOTUN: Police Arrest Neighborhood Burglars

INSIDEMAINLAND – The Lagos State Police Command, Ikotun Division has reported the arrest of four persons who broke into a warehouse and stole items worth millions of Naira.

The Lagos state command Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest on his verified Twitter account on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.

Hundeyin noted that a student was assaulted and stripped of his possessions while he was leaving school.

He revealed that while Ikotun Division patrol officers caught three of the alleged criminals at around 4:55 a.m. on Monday, they detained the fourth member of the gang at the Ojota bus stop at around 1:02 a.m. on Tuesday.

The PPRO stated that after breaking into a warehouse at the Kwara Bus stop, Igando Road, three suspected criminals were arrested by security personnel as they tried to flee with stolen goods.

The spokesman has, however, cautioned the people to always conduct thorough background checks before purchasing goods, particularly vehicles, to prevent being accused of being conspirators.

“This is so as the owners of the stolen items or vehicle may have reported the theft to the police for recovery.

“Snatched and stolen vehicles are being sold, sometimes through registered car dealers,” he said, adding that “under the law, ignorance is not an excuse.”
