INSIDEMAINLAND– The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has requested that the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency conduct a thorough investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against an unidentified patient at the Optimal Cancer Centre in Lagos.

According to a statement signed by HEFAMAA, Abayomi revealed that the video that was circulating on various social media platforms was allegedly from Optimal Care Cancer Center in Lagos.

“We are aware of a viral video alleged to have originated from the founder of Optimal Care Cancer Centre and I have directed HEFAMAA to investigate it and report back,” he said.

He stated that the Agency would send a team of monitors to the facility to gather credible information about the allegations.

He assured members of the public that if the facility did not meet set standards, the state government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, would impose appropriate sanctions in accordance with existing laws.

“Furthermore, in accordance with the state government’s zero tolerance for sexual abuse and violence, the matter will also be referred by HEFAMAA to the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency for any appropriate action that may be warranted,” he stated.

Abayomi urged members of the public to join the state government in its fight against unethical behavior in the state health sector in order to protect citizens’ well-being and health.
