LASG Plans MDA’s Service Charter Review

INSIDEMAINLAND– The Lagos State Government has asked the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation to review the state’s service charter document for all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the state Head of Service, made this call on Monday at an event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the service charter initiative into the state public service.

Muri-Okunola, who was represented at the event by Mr. Abdulrafiu Fashola, Secretary of, the Staff Housing Board, explained that regular review was required due to the dynamic nature of service delivery.

He said, “It is imperative that the content of the service charter document be reviewed regularly for effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery. The dynamic nature of service delivery generally as well as the peculiarity of service delivery in the public sector provide the justifications for the proposed periodic review of its content.

“The service charter document had proven to be a document that is relevant for effective and efficient service delivery in Lagos State Public Service and the initiative has been institutionalized to instill the culture of excellent service delivery across the government’s MDAs.”

Mr. Toba Otusanya, Director-General of OTCI, commended the MDAs that embraced the service charter initiative from its inception ten years ago and urged other MDAs that have yet to become chartered MDAs to do so in order to achieve the optimal goal of effective service delivery to citizens.

The presentation of awards to the Public Service Staff Development Centre and the Lagos State House of Assembly for exemplifying excellence in service delivery was the event’s high point.
