Lagos Ensures Quality Grassroot Health Care Scheme

INSIDEMAINLAND – The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health began an inspection of 50 healthcare facilities across the twenty(20) local government areas and thirty-seven(37) LCDAs on Monday.

The inspection, according to the committee’s chairman, Hon. Hakeem Shokunle’s mission is to build capacity and identify barriers to quality healthcare delivery in order to provide solutions at the local level.

During the committee’s visit to the Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. Shokunle stated that his committee is responsible for ensuring that all primary healthcare facilities are in good working order and adequately equipped to provide quality healthcare to the people of the state.

He said, “The committee on health under the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) is embarking on a tour of the 50 primary healthcare centres across the local government areas and LCDAs in the state to assess the condition of the facilities and their challenges and give feedback to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa with a view to strategizing on ways to improving on the quality of service delivered to the people at the grassroots.”

The lawmaker commended members of the health services department while also encouraging them to adhere to international best practices.

He also praised the council’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Dr. Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira, for prioritizing community health and investing heavily in the district’s health sector.

In his remarks, Hon. Apatira, who was represented by the council’s vice Chairman, Hon. Yetunde Jimba, reassured the committee of his administration’s commitment to improving the quality and standard of service delivery.
