How To Tackle Bullying

INSIDEMAINLAND – In the aftermath of recent happenings around secondary schools especially bullying cases, a Deputy Registrar, Counseling Unit, Lagos State University (LASU), Dr. Joseph Ayeni, has urged secondary school students not to conceal bullying in whatever form it presents itself.

Dr. Ayeni gave the counsel at the Educational Talk Show organised by the Practicum Students of the Counselling Unit in conjunction with Good Family, Good Society International for the young minds at the University’s International School.

During the interactive moment with the students, Ayeni said; “Bullying refers to aggressive behavior that is intentional, in which a power differential exists between the victim and bullying. Bullying begins from home when the children see their parents in an argument and one party shouts down the other. Those who engage in this act are destroying their future.”

He added that bullying is not just intimidating someone it could be mere words, physical bullying could be relational, social, cyber-bullying (use of technology) most bullies are cowards, they are insecure.
