INSIDEMAINLAND – In a bid to ensure justice, the operatives of the Lagos Police Command have arrested the driver of a hit-and-run truck who crushed some pupils on Tuesday along Ogunusi Road, Grammar School Bus Stop, Ojodu, Lagos Mainland.
Confirming the arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu disclosed that the suspect has been arrested and investigations into the incident has begun.
Recall that the alleged suspect had crushed some pupils of the Ojodu Grammar school whilst reportedly escaping operatives of the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) in Ojodu, Lagos Mainland.
However, it was gathered that a mob descended on the driver and reportedly chased him to the Ogba area before the Police apprehended him.
The mob, comprising angry youths, clashed with policemen at the scene who tried to maintain law and order.
It was also gathered that emergency responders including operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) turned back from the scene in the ensuing riot.
The incident grounded vehicular movement as motorists deserted the road and stranded commuters trekked long distances.
