INSIDEMAINLAND – Latest update on the Ikeja gas leak earlier today has revealed that the leak was reportedly caused by ongoing road construction work around Computer Village – Under Bridge.

InsideMainland understands that the situation has now been contained and all necessary safety protocols have been initiated by the gas company with repair works currently underway.

Recall that InsideManland had earlier reported that residents of Ikeja in the affected areas were urged to take caution as shop owners were advised to keep off the area.

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in a statement issued on Wednesday morning said some of the affected areas include; Computer Village, Ikeja Underbridge end of Awolowo Way, Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, and Medical Road.

“Residents around Computer Village, Underbridge Awolowo Way and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons.

“Distressed alert just received indicates massive leakage of gas pipeline around these areas.” Spokesperson, NEMA South West, Ibrahim Farinloye said.
