INSIDEMAINLAND – Some suspected hoodlums were reported to have destroyed properties worth thousands of naira on Thursday at the Oko-oba plank market, Ebute Meta, Lagos.
It was gathered that incident was a result of clashes between rival gangs as some suspected hoodlums seized the opportunity to rob residents of their valuables.
An eyewitness revealed that the hoodlums whose ages are between 17 and 20 years, began the fracas around 6:00 a.m., with many shops looted.
A resident also disclosed that the boys use the plank market as a hideout to perpetrate their illegal activities.
He urged the Lagos state government to expedite action in relocating the market from there.
Attempts to get a reaction from the Lagos State Police spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, proved abortive as calls and messages sent to his mobile telephone number were not responded to.
