INSIDEMAINLAND – Mixed reactions have continued to trail the appointment of Professor (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
Following the announcement earlier on Thursday, September 16, 2021, Mainlanders, and other key interests in the matter have taken to the social media platform, Facebook to share their displeasure on the process and eventual appointment of Professor Olatunji-Bello as the new Vice-Chancellor.
Commenting on a post shared by Kunle Dabiri, who was formerly in the employ of the Bariga LCDA, a community media journalist, Obafemi Adesanyo said; “That was all they had wanted to do. And now they have dared Lagos State indigenes and carried out their wish. All we can now do is pray for the best.”
Also reacting, Ade Primus posted simply saying; “I have no pity for indigenous Lagosians. They have now seen that money is no substitute for heritage pride! They created the monster called Tinubu. All we see today was a result of that lack of foresight!”
In his remarks, Biodun Oseni, stated; “Hmmm… Some Lagosians must have been denied to make this happen. Gradually and steadily, true Lagosians are becoming endangered in their own state, the Centre of Excellence. Congratulations to the appointed”.
While relating the newly appointed varsity Vice-Chancellor to the likely influence of her husband, Tunji Bello, a Facebook user, Hon Rotimi Balogun, posted saying: “Her husband is a commissioner in Lagos hmmmmm ok ooo family bizs”.
Commenting, Oga Omoyemi Omotilewa, said; “Their initial plan has been achieved” while Ola Bode simply added, “At last…they have successfully imposed this woman…. Kai….Lagos state”.
Recall that the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor for the Lagos State University has taken a while after multiple candidates indicated an interest in the role.
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had instituted a committee to investigate the matter and submit an advisory report to his administration.
Earlier today, the Governor approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs) Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, which immediately raised eyebrows across different quarters including the academia.
