… says Salawu is a collective decision of the party
INSIDEMAINLAND – The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Somolu, Lagos State has explained the issue surrounding the candidacy of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu as the party flagbearer for the July 24th local government elections.
Recall that INSIDEMAINLAND reported that there was an outcry by residents of Somolu over the candidacy of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu A.K.A ‘Dullar’ as the APC flagbearer for the July Local Government poll.
Sequel to the protest by Somolu residents, APC stalwart in Somolu Hon. Dosu Matiluko said the party members have reached a common ground to ensure the current Council Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu re-runs and completes his second term in office.
He said, “All the leaders of APC in Somolu had signed long before now that Dullar should complete his second term so that they could approach the polls as a team together as they do not want to be disunited for Chairmanship reasons”.
Matiluko who is a scribe of the party leaders in Somolu Federal Constituency thanked the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members, especially Senator Anthony Adefuye for his consistent strive in ensuring the political space of Somolu is peacefully stabilized. He said the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadir Obafemi Hamzat has really done the party and state proud.
According to him, ‘APC in Somolu is a well-coordinated chapter of the party and their internal democracy is second to non’. He said steps to correct the errors of the past started in November 2019.
Similarly, the Lagos State House of Assembly member representing Somolu Constituency 1, Hon. Rotimi Olowo said the Lagos State chapter of APC should be applauded for ensuring the wish of the people of Somolu is honored by the emergence of Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu is the party’s Candidate.
He said since November 2019, the leaders have decided to return Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu for the second term due to his giant strides in grassroots development.
