Official: Lagos Launches New Cashless FLM Bus Scheme

As part of efforts to ensure a total clampdown on commercial motorcycles in Lagos State, the Lagos State Government has unveiled the new cashless Last Mile (FLM) bus schemes to ply inner routes.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday unveiled the blue and white commuter buses.

The new cashless last-mile bus scheme is an initiative transport option which gives commuters in the communities outside the main transit corridor a wider berth in accessing transport routes.

In the first phase, 300 FLM buses were unveiled by the governor out of the expected 5,000 buses.

Unveiling the FLM bus scheme at the State House, Ikeja, Sanwo-Olu said the need to phase out okada was the reason for their introduction.

Total Clampdown On Okada Riders Begins In Two Months

In another development, Sanwo Olu also said he would observe the operation of the FLM for two months to see if it met the needed demand before he would pronounce a total ban on okada riding.

Sanwo-Olu blamed Okada riders for the incessant road accident across the state.

He warned those driving against traffic to desist as repeated offenders would not only lose their vehicle, they would contend with a three-year jail term, while first offenders will face a one-year jail term.
