Former MFM FC of Lagos star, has exclusively told InsideMainland today that he has officially left record-holders of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title, Enyimba FC, by mutual consent after an agreement was reached earlier today.
The diminutive midfield maestro who still had one more year left on the 3-year deal he signed in 2018 had a stop-start period with the People’s Elephant and with the 23-year old actively seeking more playing time, he is now open to discussions with prospective new clubs.
Onuwa started his career in the Nigeria National League with Heartland of Owerri before joining MFM FC and playing a vital role in the promotion to the top flight.
He further played a major part in a remarkable 2017 season for the ‘Olukoya Boys’ as they secured a CAF Champions League spot, finishing four points behind champions, Rangers.
Having shone brightly for many years at the Agege ‘Soccer Temple’ for years, Onuwa moved to Enyimba in 2018 and was crown league champion with the club in 2019.
