A photo of the present state of St Finbarr’s road in Akoka posted on Twitter today has called to question the integrity of the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who promised to fix the said road since February.
Insidemainland reported earlier in the year the dilapidated state of the road and this prompted Sanwo-Olu, through his special adviser on new media, Mr Jubril Gawat, to make a statement promising that the road would be rehabilitated.
Gawat wrote on Twitter, “We will be starting massive rehabilitation of St. Finbar’s Road, starting from the gate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG). We will be rehabilitating Jagunmolu Street, Diya Street & Shoniyi Street”.
Even though the road is in proximity to the University of Lagos, The Federal college of Education (Technical), St Finbarr’s College (of which the road derives its name from) and densely populated communities like Bariga, Gbagada, Akoka, Yaba and Palmgrove, the Lagos State government have refused to do anything about it.
