2021 LG elections: LASIEC visits Amuwo-Odofin for sensitization

Ahead of the proposed 2021 LG Elections, the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has commenced sensitization visits to various LGAs starting with the Amuwo-Odofin LG.

There has been so much mixed feelings regarding the tenure of the current Chairpersons of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State. The visit of Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to Amuwo Odofin LGA Monday has affirmed that the next Local Government Elections will hold in 2021.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, one of the commissioners amongst the four present said, “Our visit to your office, Mr. Chairman is to officially familiarize you with the forth coming local government elections slated for next year, 2021, while we also seek your cooperation in ensuring that our officers domiciled in your local government, particularly the resident electoral officer has a conducive and convenient working environment to discharge its statutory obligations” .

Engr. Dr Valentine Buraimoh thanked the team for eventually making the visit as proposed. He also applauded them for establishing the legality of a four-year tenure for LGs/LCDAs in Lagos State.
