Another community in Surulere overrun by flood

Surulere flood

Akambi Crescent, a popular area within the suburb of Ojuelegba, Surulere Local Government, Lagos State, was overrun by flood caused by the heavy downpour that lasted for hours a few days ago.

However, Akambi Crescent, is a borderline between Surulere Local Government and Mushin Local Government. Part of the Crescent is in Surulere Local Government while the other part is in Mushin Local Government. But the area that was overrun by flood is in Mushin Local Government.

This medium gathered that the flooding was caused by the ongoing construction of the carnal by the Lagos State Government. Moreover, indiscriminate dumping of refuse, has blocked the water channels hence the flooding that overrun some parts of the Crescent.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Surulere Local Government, Hon. Tajudeen Olusola Ajide has assured the residents of the area of his administration’s commitment to rid the area of flooding, as palliative measures are in place to curb the menace until the state government has completed the ongoing construction of the carnal which spans through Surulere and Mushin Local Governments. 

Hon. Ajide also used the occasion to advice residents of the area to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the carnal which blocked water channels and caused flooding.

Recalled that Hon. Ajide has constructed over 46 roads in the last three years of his administration. He has also established empowerment schemes for artisans and macro – business operators in the local government.

Recently, he presented brand new official cars to the Supervisory Councilors of the local government to enhance their performance and work delivery. He also has a good working relationship with the legislative arm and the management of the council.
