Man who tested positive for COVID-19 in Lagos intercepted in Benue

Benue state man

A man who reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 in Lagos was today intercepted by the Benue state action committee on COVID-19 in a Gboko bound fifteen-seater bus at Otukpo, Benue state.

The man who boarded the bus from Lagos, said he decided to return home following his mother’s advice.

Chairman of the committee, Benson Abounu, told journalists that all the fifteen passengers, including the positive case from Lagos, have been isolated and their samples taken to Abuja for testing.

Recall that a few days ago, the commissioner of health in Lagos had complained about people who had tested positive to coronavirus fleeing from their homes in order to avoid being admitted by the government into one of its isolation centres.

President Muhammadu Buhari last week also announced a ban on inter-state travel but there have been reports of people still finding their way across the country.
