by Alli Mustapha

One year after the entire community was thrown into total darkness, residents of Ariyori /Ijaiye area of Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos Mainland now have a reason to smile.

This is because power has finally been restored to the community following the  installation and activation of a new 500kVA transformer procured for the community by the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Bolaji Muse Ariyoh.

The installation of the transformer by Ikeja electric (lE) came to realization after the community cleared all outstanding debts of N3.9million assisted by the council boss who donated N1million in addition to the purchase of the transformer.

Commenting on the development. Chairman, Community Development Association (CDA) of the area, Alhaji Rasaq Mabinuori advised the community members to protect the transformer.

He urged the residents to avoid overloading so that they would not go back to darkness experienced for one year.  “We are so happy and grateful to the local government chairman and other stakeholders for the efforts put together to achieve the installation of transformer in our community.  The phenomenon of irregularities in power supply is what we pray to be resolved now,” he said.

He added that; “Residents’ expression of joy cannot be overemphasized because of the relief from being in darkness and constant buying of fuel to do their daily businesses which has been taken away.”
