An eyewitness said that operatives of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were immediately deployed to the scene and helped remove the victim from beneath the container.
Director-General of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu, also said the woman had been taken to the hospital.
In an update on the incident, the LASEMA boss said; “Upon the arrival of the agency’s officials at the incident scene, it was discovered that a 40 feet container had fallen from the bridge on a female passerby who had unfortunately been trapped. “She was subsequently extricated from beneath the container and taken to the hospital with a severed limb.”
The accident truck was removed from the road through combined efforts of the agency’s light and heavy duty tow trucks, while the incident spot was cordoned off to prevent imminent secondary incident just as the affected flat body truck conveying the container was detached and taken off the road.
