UPDATE: One confirmed dead as Police restores normalcy to troubled Surulere community

Following the clash between rival cult members earlier today, Monday, December 16, 2019, in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, the Lagos State Government, has announced that normalcy has since returned to the community.

The development was announced by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information & Strategy, Mr. Lanre Oguntoyinbo was on the scene to access the situation.

According to him; “It is imperative we assure residents and commuters of Pako Aguda community in respect of the widely reported unrest via social media platforms.

“It is worthy of note that the unrest is under control as men of the Nigerian police force led by the Area Commander of Area C, the DPOS of soloki and ITIRE, including men from Lagos state Neighborhood Safety Corps were able to contain the situation and return to normalcy.:

He continued saying; “The General public is hereby advised to go about their normal duties with cautiousness. The government urges parent, guardian to warn their wards as whoever is caught in the act of creating or support act of creating or support acts of violence to the lives, property and peace of Surulere will be duly arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of the land.”

He stated further that a joint meeting between the Chairman of the local government areas involved, the Chief security officers of the LCDAs and other law enforcement agencies will be held soonest.

It was gathered that one person died in the fracas with scores injured while they scampered for safety.
