Billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, has redeemed his pledge of gifting the Super Eagles $50,000 (N18,232,500.00) for each goal scored in their semi-finals game against Algeria in their AFCON 2019 semi-final clash.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed receiving the money via its verified Twitter handle @thenff yesterday.
“Business tycoon Aliko Dangote today in Lagos redeemed his pledge of $50,000 to the @NGSuperEagles for their one goal against Algeria in AFCON 2019 semi-final. Money was presented by Olakunle Alake, GMD of Dangote Group accompanied by Anthony Chiejina, Chief Corp. Comm. Officer,” the NFF said in a tweet.
On Wednesday, July 31, 2019, Olakunle Alake, Group Managing Director of Dangote Industries Limited, presented the cheque to Dayo Enebi, Team Administrator, Chidi Ngoka, equipment manager and John Ogu, Eagles midfielder, in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Africa’s richest man and billionaire businessman Femi Otedola made the promise to the Eagles prior to their semi-final clash against the Algerians at the just concluded 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
However, the Super Eagles lost to the Algerians by 2-1.
