Residents of Alimosho community, Lagos Mainland, have a reason to rejoice as the management of the Alimosho General Hospital, serving residents of the community, has completed the construction of six additional standard consultation rooms as part of efforts to ensure patients’ privacy during medical consultations.
The additional rooms feature standard medical equipment and air-conditioners to improve the aesthetics and ambiance of the environment while aiding qualitative healthcare services to patients of the Orthopaedic, General, Surgical, Medical and Psychiatry Clinics within the hospital.
Commenting at the opening of the new structures, the Medical Director, Dr. Adebajo Madewa stated that the initiative was borne out of the need to provide effective care to patients who could not disclose personal details during consultations due to inadequate privacy with medical personnel.
“We really want to give our old and new patients some privacy with their consultants for effective service delivery. Also, our assessors had previously suggested the need to erect six additional rooms in order to increase the total number to 11 consultation rooms to serve a daily average of 600 patients across the clinics using these rooms,” he said.
Dr. Adebajo asserted that the hospital had to complete the project in view of the high influx of daily patients that patronize the various clinics, adding that the project will also ensure that the facility enhanced its implementation of the Lagos State Health Scheme.
The Complaints Management Officer and Coordinator of the State Health Scheme at the hospital, Pharmacist Abimbola Ajayi noted that an overview of the hospital’s practice indicated that the construction of more private consultation rooms was required to meet up with the demands of the scheme.
She noted that Alimosho General Hospital is one of the three hospitals chosen for the implementation phase of the scheme, saying that construction of the new building shows that patients’ interest is paramount to the hospital’s management team.
