IN OJO: Police foil robbery attempt, arrest two suspects

The Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, March 19, 2019, foiled a robbery attempt at Imude Road, Ojo, Lagos Mainland.

The 7-man gang were said to have been sighted entering Alhaji Gafaru Street, Imude Road, on motorcycles and attempted to rob the residents.

According to a statement by the Command PPRO, DSP Bala Elkana, the Police received a distress call from residents and drafted policemen to the scene.

DSP Elkana said that: “On sighting the Police, the armed robbers opened fire but were subdued by the superior firepower of our gallant teams. Two suspects namely: Semiu Ibrahim (24) and Francis Obi (29), were arrested while Chinozo Felix aka power (29) and Ifeanyi Uche were fatally Injured.

“Three Berretta pistols with three live ammunition and three expended ammunition were recovered. One unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle was also recovered from the scene.”

He disclosed that the robbers shot dead a 32-year-old identified as Obina Efenkandu. Another victim, Collins Ichu, who also sustained bullet wounds from the robbers is said to be receiving treatment.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Zubairu Muazu reiterated the Command’s readiness to deal decisively with criminal elements in the State and continue to make Lagos State a difficult place for criminal activities.
