As a result of the aftermath of the Saturday’s general election and the emanating tension in Oshodi, the Lagos State Police Command has intensified its efforts to maintain peace and order in the axis by deploying its personnel in order to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
The Command spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen today, Tuesday, February 26.
Oti also described as false news that hoodlums were attacking Igbo traders in Oshodi.
“Attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds on the internet to the effect that a group of boys popularly called the ‘Area boys’ are attacking Igbo traders at Oshodi, preventing them from opening their shops.
“The Command wishes to debunk the rumour in its entirety as nothing could be further from the truth.
“Although the Command receive`d distress calls from concerned Nigerians whose apprehensions were understandably heightened by disturbing rumours emanating from some social media platforms, the Command swiftly and massively deployed its personnel drawn from various units to Oshodi and environs to allay the fears of residents and further assure Lagosians of its readiness to decisively deal with any person or group of persons who attempts to breach the public peace,” he said.
He added that the Command would maintain a high level of Police presence in all parts of the state with emphasis on crime-prone areas
The police spokesman assured residents of the Command’s readiness to deal with miscreants who intend to disrupt public peace. Bx���
