Ikeja GRA residents berate lawmaker representing the axis in Lagos Assembly, Hon. Folajimi Mohammed

The lawmaker representing Ikeja Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Folajimi Lai-Mohammed was in the eye of the storm during the public town hall meeting which held in Ikeja community, Lagos Mainland, at the weekend.

In the public debate cum meeting tagged ‘Who Cares For Ikeja GRA’, residents of the counity berated the lawmaker who represents the community in the Assembly for his neglect of the area since he assumed office.

According to the residents, Hon. Lai-Mohammed refused to honour invitations to events sent to him at intervals in the community.

Speaking on this, a resident, Mr. Bola Oyewo stated that the lawmaker was fond of showing complete disregard to the plight of residents in the axis who voted for him to represent their interests in the Assembly.

“I believe you honoured this invitation to partake in the debate because it is time for the general elections and you need our individual support,” Oyewo said.

He continued that; “Ever since you assumed office, you have refused to honour our invitation. This is completely wrong and I believe it is a disregard to those who voted you into office.”

Also speaking, another resident, Mrs. Onabanjo revealed that the lawmaker was active and easily accessible in the community prior to his election into office. “It became tough to see you immediately you assumed office. I hope attending this function is not to seek our votes when we will find it difficult seeing you when you get to office,” she said.

Reacting to the development, the lawmaker, Hon. Lai-Mohammed said he received the invitations but was away on official duty mostly when the events held.

He however pleaded for the support of the residents adding that he will ensure the promises made during his electioneering process are kept.
