Protesters storm Lagos Assembly over move to impeach Ambode

Multiple pro-Ambode supporters stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly complex earlier today, Wednesday, January 30, 2019, in protest of the move by the lawmakers to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

During the march, the protesters wielding various placards that expressea their support for Governor Ambode decried the current actions of the lawmakers.

It was learnt that the protesters blocked a part of the entrance to the Assembly complex drawing attention of onlookers.

Recall that the lawmakers during a plenary session on last Monday had commenced discussions towards a likely impeachment of the Governor who was alleged to be guilty of misappropriation.

At the time, the lawmakers agreed to summon Governor Ambode to the House who they said have refused to present himself to the House to lay the 2019 Appropriation Bill.

The development has thrown observers and political aficionados in Lagos into various talks with many wondering what could be the fate of Governor Ambode who was once sought after for his developmental strides in the state.
