A ghastly multiple accident involving one petroleum-laden tanker, an articulated truck and three cars has occurred at Palmgroove bus stop, along Ikorodu road, Lagos Mainland.
According to witnesses, the unfortunate incident has made the route inaccessible to commuters. As a result, commuters going towards Anthony/Maryland have been advised to seek alternative routes.
The incident has sparked growing tension in the axis as one of the trucks carrying petroleum products has spilled its content on the road. This has led to fears of a looming fire outbreak in the neighbourhood.
However, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management (LASTMA) revealed that no casualty was recorded in the accident, adding that efforts are underway to evacuate the wreckage of the affected vehicles.
Moreso, the traffic management agency has urged motorists plying the axis to be patient while the evacuation work is ongoing.
In addition, the agency revealed that the rescue team of the Lagos State Fire Service are already on ground to forestall any fire outbreak.
