There was pandemonium along Five Star Bus Stop near Aswani Market, Isolo, Lagos Mainland earlier today, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, after two persons died following an alleged misunderstanding over the sum of N100 (One Hundred Naira).
According to reports, one of the deceased, a bus conductor stabbed a passenger to death before an angry mob descended on him, setting him ablaze.
An eyewitness told Guardian that the bus was heading to Aswani market area and the passenger opted to alight at the junction before the market and demanded his N100 change.
It was gathered that the conductor refused to hand over the change and allegedly threatened the passenger. In the ensuing argument the conductor took a knife from the wares of a roadside seller and stabbed the passenger, who died immediately.
This led to an angry mob pouncing on the conductor in return and set him ablaze. They also burnt the vehicle leading to chaos in the axis.
In addition, the driver of the bus reportedly fled the scene to avoid being caught in the pandemonium.
Also, Guardian reported that the mob moved to the opposite side of the road to wreak more havoc on commercial buses.
The mob reportedly burnt three other commercial danfo buses in retaliation of the passenger’s death.
The death of the two set the environment unsettled the area as traders, motorists and pedestrians scampered for their lives and commercial activities halted temporarily.
Presently, InsideMainland gathered that normalcy has returned to the area as security operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have been deployed to the scene to tackle the situation.
