Following the reports of the alleged electrocution of power distribution company, Ikeja Electric Plc technical staff in Ijegun-Ikotun network area, Lagos Mainland, the management of the company has debunked the claims.
Recall that news went viral online about the electrocution of the staff who had gone up to fix electric cables on a pole in the Ijegun axis.
At the time, the staff was reported to have been electrocuted leading to other members of staff and residents struggling to remove his body from the electric pole.
Reacting to the development, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, Felix Ofulue stated that the employee did suffer electric shock while on duty but is alive.
In a statement obtained by InsideMainland Ofulue said; “Following unverified reports that an IE Technical Staff lost his life while on duty around our Ijegun Ikotun network area and the subsequent spread of this news online, Ikeja Electric will like to state clearly that our employee did suffer electric shock while on duty but is alive, thankfully and responding to treatment.”
He added that: “We thank the general public for their concern and urge all news blogs to kindly update their news reports accordingly.”
