Residents and pedestrians plying the popular Odo-Iya Alaro Bridge inward Maryland, Lagos Mainland can now heave a sigh of relief over the dangling electric pole on the bridge as power distribution company, Ikeja Electric Plc has reacted to InsideMainland’s reports on the incident.
Recall that on November 1, 2018, InsideMainland reported the concerns of pedestrians and residents using the bridge as a result of the dangling pole and its cables.
Responding to InsideMainland’s inquiries on the incident, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric, Mr. Felix Ofulue, said an urgent action will be taken on the dangling pole.
Presently, the maintenance officers of the power company have visited the site to attend to the dangling pole.
Speaking to InsideMainland on the development, Ofulue said; “The line on the pole has been removed so there is no threat of electrocution. The angle of the pole will also be rectified.”
At the moment, a new pole has been erected on the PTC 11KV at Odo Iya Alaro bridge and the electric cables from the broken pole have been transferred onto it, InsideMainland can reliably report.
This latest development will, however, bring succor for pedestrians who use the bridge daily including workers under the popular bridge.
The InsideMainland team will bring further updates on the level of work done on the dangling pole.
