The Chairman of Lagos State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede has endorsed Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for the forthcoming 2019 gubernatorial elections in Lagos State.
The NURTW boss made the declaration during an engagement at the campaign office of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate located at Oduduwa Crescent in Ikeja GRA, Lagos Mainland.
In addition, Alhaji Agbede presented the campaign team of Sanwo-Olu ten mini space busses amidst loud cheers from members of the road transport union. The buses were handed to the campaign team led by the Director General and the Deputy, Mr. Tayo Ayinde and Cardinal James Odumbaku.
While addressing some leaders of the party in attendance, Alhaji Agbede stated that his group was ready to deliver victory for the APC in Lagos State.
“We are ready to work for the victory of the party, and this is our tradition, and we have given our words,” he said.
In his remarks, the Deputy Director General of the Independent Campaign Group, Cardinal James Odumbaku commended the good gesture of NURTW. He said the group has shown loyalty to the APC in Lagos State.
“I have nothing to say other than to thank you for believing in us and willing to support us and achieve victory at the 2019 general elections,” he said.
Corroborating the position of Cardinal James Odumbaku on the NURTW endorsement for Sanwo-Olu, Director General of the campaign group, Mr. Tayo Ayinde said; “Lagos is over 20 million in population, we expect you to deliver half of the population in favour of APC,” he said.
He urged the group to remain loyal and educate members on the need to convince the masses in order for them to cast their vote for APC.
“As bus drivers, you meet the masses as passengers in your buses every day, you must find a way to convince them and make them vote for APC,” he suggested.
