For residents of Ikorodu community and environs who have made plans to leave the axis via the popular Ikorodu road today, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, there is no other time to best consider water transportation or using the Epe/Sagamu route to leave their base.
This is as a result of the heavy traffic gridlock caused by an accident involving a red BRT bus and a loaded containerized truck along Irawo community, Lagos Mainland.
InsideMainland reliably gathered that the accident which occurred at the Irawo bus stop inward Owode-Ajegunle occurred in the early hours of this morning. One person was alleged to have died in the incident with many others injured in the process.
As a result of the accident, there is heavy traffic in the axis as the affected vehicles are yet to be removed from the expressway. The traffic stretch from the Ogolonto end of Ikorodu road all the way to Owode and Mile 12 axes.
The gridlock currently also affects the blue BRT corridor with hundreds of motorists trapped in the traffic due to the rush hour.
This has led road users jumping on bikes already banned from plying the expressway to avoid spending too many hours in the traffic.
In addition, InsideMainland learnt that the ongoing road rehabilitation along the Ketu, Mile 12 and Owode ends of the expressway has also largely contributed to the heavy traffic.
