In the aftermath of the violence recorded at across the Lagos Mainland during the primary elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the rerun ordered by the National Working Committee of the party, an aspirant Dayo Israel has reacted to the developments.
According to the young politician who once ran to occupy the Executive Chairmanship position of the Lagos Mainland LG, no elections held in his community where he vied to emerge as the choice candidate to represent Lagos Mainland Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a statement relased by Dayo, he narrated that; “We were ready and had mobilized our supporters, canvassers and agents to vote for us at the primaries yesterday (Friday). But alas, no primaries happened in Lagos Mainland Constituency 1 yesterday. Not a single presence of party agent or electoral officers.”
He reiterated that no elections held stressing that there was civil unrest between supporters of aspirants vying for the same position.
“No primary election occurred in Lagos Mainland local-government yesterday. Rather, there was civil unrest between supporters of aspirants (none of ours).
“This is not the democracy that we desire or long for as the new breed of politically active young people; neither is it the values that our founding fathers shared,” Dayo noted.
He cpntinued saying; “I have raised my concerns with our party leadership at the highest level. I have expressed my anger, hurt and disappointment in the process and hope that a peaceful resolution will be achieved. As progressives, we must set the standards and not fall short of excellence.”
Dayo Israel ran against Mr. Alo Seniyan and the incumbent, Hon. Oladele Adekanye who is seeking another term in office.
