IN IKORODU: Confusion as thugs attack residents during SOB Agundiabde’s anti-4th term rally

There was confusion in Ikorodu community, Lagos Mainland, yesterday, Thursday, October 4, 2018, as thugs suspected to be loyal to a member of the Lagos State House Assembly, SOB Agunbiade allegedly unleashed terror on residents who were holding a rally in the community.

InsideMainland gathered that the residents who marched against the fourth term bid of the Ikorodu lawmaker were attacked by the hoodlums who fired shots at them.

According to BlackBox Nigeria, trouble started when youths and elderly members on the community walked round Ikorodu town in a rally to protest the fourth term bid of the lawmaker who has been a state legislature since 2007.

The peaceful protest took off in Ebute-Ipakodo with several inhabitants and indigenes of Ikorodu joining in what they described as “the oppressive nature and sit down tight syndrome of a local Mugabe”.

However, trouble started when the rally moved from the APC Secretariat in Ota-Ona towards Ikorodu Grammar School where the constituency office of Hon Agunbiade is situated.

It was reported that the rally was stopped abruptly when loyalists of Hon. Agunbiade trooped out of his constituency office to unleash mayhem on the protesters.

They allegedly brandished dangerous weapons including guns, machetes and bottles to disperse the protesters leaving scores injured in the process.

According to Blackbox Nigeria, the thugs were reportedly led by a well-known cultist popularly known as ‘Savage’. He was said to have shot at the protesters.

The attackers further went about town shooting sporadically with a warning to deal with whoever opposes Hon. Agunbiade’s fourth term, the platform reported.

Meanwhile, according to sources in the camp of Hon. SOB Agunbiade, the residents involved in the rally marched to the politician’s constituency office to hurl objects and dangerous items at members of his campaign team who had gathered in the office.

The source narrated that; “They were going about their protest and no one made a move to stop them. They were chanting political and abusive songs at us at the same time. The leaders ordered that no one must respond because they were looking for an opportunity to cause problem.

“We were however shocked when they started throwing stones, bottles and other objects inside the compound. We first ran for safety but had to face them because they were bent on hurting us.

“The struggle was started by them and they injured Yusuf and another member of the Majority leader’s team. It was Hon. Agunbiade that called the attention of the Police and Onyabo before the situation was resolved.”

However, Policemen in Ikorodu community have attended to the situation returning peace and calmness to the tensed atmosphere.

Residents and party loyalists are expected to elect their representative under the umbrella of the APC to run for elections in the forthcoming general elections to take the Ikorodu Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
