Ikorodu lawmaker secures second term ticket unopposed

The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, has secured the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent his constituents in the National Assembly during the forthcoming general elections unopposed.

Hon. Benson secured the ticket after the party leaders and stakeholders unanimously agreed that he should take a second shot at the much-coveted seat.

The coast became clear for the young lawmaker after the two aspirants, who had earlier shown interest in the position, dropped their aspirations and pledged their support for him.

One of the aspirants, Hon. Oyebola Ologijo, was reported to have stepped down for Benson after the intervention of a chieftain of the party, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, who called the two frontline aspirants to a parley.

It was learnt that Asiwaju Basorun had intervened on the ground that the performing lawmaker deserves another term to represent the people of the division and implored Hon. Ologijo to allow him consolidate on his achievements.

In addition, the second aspirant, Mr. Owolabi Anifowoshe who vied for the position against Hon. Benson in the 2015 elections also withdrew from the race on the ground that the realities on ground does not favour any challenge against  the incumbent.
