Ajegunle born former Nigerian player slumps, dies in Ikorodu

Former Nigerian international footballer, Ebitimi Collins popularly known as `Barbwire` during his playing days has died.

The Ajegunle born former Stationery Stores player passed away yesterday, Wednesday, September 26, 2018, around his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland.

He was said to have slumped while heading for an appointment he had with the doctor due to a brief illness before the incident occurred.

Ebitimi Collins during his playing days, was a hard-tackling and aggressive defender who was feared by strikers across the Nigerian football league.

The soft-spoken player was a different person off the field with friends saying he had a pleasant personality.

Due to his death, football fans and other well-wishers have since taken to their social media pages to mourn the deceased.

According to a Facebook user, Don Kefe; “Rip to a Veteran and friend of the Allstars family. Only God knows where the bell will toll next, but we pray it’s far in between till very ripe ages.

“Barbwire sure deserves a solemn moment of respect and mourning by the collective All-stars family and football fraternity. My condolence to his family and everyone of us. God knows best.”

Scores of other football lovers have continued to mourn the ex Nigerian football star.
