Aiteo Cup returns to Soccer Temple as Pillars, Rivers United, others storm Agege

The popular Soccer Temple, Agege, Lagos Mainland, will host Federation Cup games now known as Aiteo Cup today, Monday, September 24, 2018, as top teams such as Kano Pillars, Rivers United, Kwara United and Abia Warriors battle for tickets into the next stage of the competition.

The games between the top-flight Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is billed to hold between today, Monday, September 24, and Friday, September 28, 2018 and promises to be a week of explosive football action.

The football sides are all fighting for the two top spots from Group C, with former back-to-back league champions, Kano Pillars, one time Cup winners, Rivers United of Port Harcourt, top bests as giant killers, and Abia Warriors of Umuahia and resurgent Kwara United of Ilorin all rated high to emerge tops.

It is left to be seen which two of the quartet will eventually come out, as the battle for places in the quarter finals of this year’s AITEO Cup competition begins in eight centres, involving 16 teams in the men’s category and 12 teams in the women’s category.

In the draws held inside the Boardroom of the Lagos State Football Association, in Surulere, Lagos Mainland, with representatives of the four teams in attendance, the games to be played on the three match days have been fixed.

On the first match day, Kano Pillars will face Rivers United while Abia Warriors play Kwara  United. On the following match day, Kano Pillars will face giant killers, Abia Warriors while Rivers United play against Kwara United.

On the final match day, Rivers United will file out against Abia Warriors while the Maigida boys, Kano Pillars will play Kwara United.
