Information reaching InsideMainland has it that residents of Ebute-Ipakodo community in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland, are currently living in fear following the incessant attacks by armed robbers and burglars in the neighbourhood.
It was gathered that the lively community is now in a shadow of its former self due to the attacks by the armed bandits who now threaten the relative peace in the area.
According to a report by Ikorodu Oga radio, residents of the neighbourhood have reported cases or robbery and burglary theft to officers of the Nigerian Police at the Ipakodo Police Station.
“At the last count, men of the underworld have raided about five different shops and some offices, throwing residents and business owners in the area into serious panic mood,” the community medium reports.
In addition, the robbers reportedly burgled the Adide grocery store located at Cappa junction, along NBC road and another crèche, on the same route. The robbers were said to have carted away valuables worth millions of naira from their victims.
Recall that InsideMainland earlier reported the attack on the campaign office of Prince Gafaar Oluwatyin Bolowotan, a politician seeking to represent Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
At the time, his office located on Fadeyi Street, Ebute was raided by burglars who stole computer gadgets, iPads, and other campaign materials belonging to the politician.
Speaking on the development, the Divisional Police Officer of Ipakodo Police station, SP Tijani Jimoh, empathized with the affected residents and business owners, assuring them of the commitment of his men to the total surveillance of the community in order to arrest the situation.
He so admonished residents, particularly shop and office owners to collaborate and engage the services of security guards for their respective residences and offices, as a way of complimenting the efforts of his men, in securing the area.
