In the aftermath of InsideMainland’s report on the abandoned leaked water pipe along Obafemi Awolowo way in Oke Ota-Ona, Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland, and how it had turned into a death trap for motorists plying the axis, the officials of the Lagos Water Corporation.
InsideMainland learnt that the officials of the Corporation returned to the location during the weekend in a bid to put the spot back in shape to ease vehicular movement in the area.
Speaking to InsideMainland, one of the officials of the Corporation who do not want to be named said; “We didn’t choose to deliberately leave the spot unattended to. We were hindered by the heavy rainfall because we needed to patch and ensure that the place is filled before pouring granite on the road.”
The source added that “now that the weather is friendly, we will ensure the work is done swiftly with the support of the residents of the axis. We would never aim to put the lives of people in danger.”
Recall that the neglect on the leaked pipe just in the middle of the road had drawn the ire of residents and other stakeholders in the community who openly condemned the officials of the Corporation.
