IN IKORODU: Residents condemn neglect by Water Corporation as leaked pipe turns death spot

Weeks after InsideMainland reported the faulty pipe along Obafemi Awolowo Way in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland and the lack of attention on the spot by the officials of the Lagos State Water Corporation whose office is just located few meters away from the spot, the location has become a death trap for residents.

Information reaching InsideMainland has it that days following the public outcry by residents and community leaders in the area, the officials of the Corporation visited the site to work on the burst pipe.

However, the works done by the Corporation officials have left the location in a show of its former self as the spot has now turned into a major trap for motorists who ply the route daily.

It was learnt that tricycles better known as Keke marwa and other vehicles now face a difficult time using the axis to access their various destinations.

According to a concerned resident, Adedeji Fatuga “in a sane society, I believe this rubbish would have been cleared off the road. At least two vehicles and tricycle loaded with passengers have somersaulted at this point since the Lagos Water Corporation left the spot in this unpleasant state.”

Corroborating Fatuga, another resident, Shittu Saheed stated that; “Where is Ikorodu central government officials or don’t they have any role at all. The state government is not responding.

“What now happens to nearest one which is the local government? Somebody should call Mr chairman’s attention if he is not aware already.”

Meanwhile, efforts to get officials of the Water Corporation officials at Oke-Ota Ona, Ikorodu for comments as at press time proved abortive.
