IN EJIGBO: Relief for Jakande retail market traders as Council boss doles out relief fund to fire victims

In the aftermath of the inferno that razed shops in the Jakande Estate retail market, Oke Afa, Lagos Mainland, the Executive Chairman, Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsuru Bello, has supported the victims of the incident with relief funds to ease their losses.

Recall that in the inferno which occurred about two months ago, several traders were affected in the incident with loss of goods and personal belongings worth millions of naira.

The traders were handed the relief funds during a visit to the market by the council boss yesterday, Friday, September 14, 2018.

While presenting the funds, the council chairman urged the market leaders and all traders at the market to be cautious to prevent a repeat of the incident.

Hon. Bello advised the traders to make it a habit of checking their surroundings, especially at the closing hours at night and be on the lookout to spot any of the traders who may fail to put off electric appliances, light and other things that could cause a repeat of the inferno.

Reacting to the development, the Iyaloja of the retail market gave kudos to the kind gesture by the local council head, while tasking him to do more for traders in the market.
