Ifako Ijaiye Police/Cult clash: Security operatives apprehend herbalist backing the cultists

Days after the ugly clash between security operatives and some suspected cultists in Ifako-Ijaiye community which led to the death of two policemen and two youths in the area, the operatives attached to the Lagos State Police Command has apprehended the lead herbalist backing the suspected cultists.

InsideMainland gathered from sources close to the matter that the 82-year-old herbalist was arrested in his base around Koto, by Hospital bus stop, on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

The arrest of the octogenarian was followed by that of other suspected cultists who have been under investigation as a result of the ugly clash that left the entire community in a shadow of its former self.

Sources told InsideMainland that the shrine of the herbalist was raided after his arrest with charms, cowries, and other diabolical items found there.

Recall that InsideMainland reported the death of four persons comprising policemen and youths of Ifako-Ijaiye community following a clash that broke out between suspected hoodlums parading themselves as youths and security operatives.

According to an eyewitness account, the killing started following a raid by security operatives attached to the Pen Cinema Police Division, Agege, Lagos Mainland, in the community on Sunday, August 26, 2018.

During the raid at shanties around Olafisoye street, one of the occupants in the area sustained a head injury leading to his death a few days after. The development led to a reprisal attack by the youths which further led to the deaths of two policemen and another youth who died of gunshot wounds.
