Following the heavy rainfall witnessed across the Lagos Mainland today, Friday, September 7, 2018, many communities have been left flooded with residents battling to save their belongings from the ensuing flood.
Presently, the entire Akinremi Street, Anifowoshe, Ikeja, Lagos Mainland, is consumed by water and residents currently swim out of their homes. Sources told InsideMainland that the flood was occasioned by blocked drainage channels which has left the whole area engulfed by water.
Similarly, the popular Ikeja Under bridge is flooded with water while some parts of Awolowo Way are not left out on the mess.
In addition, residents and business owners around Ogba end of Lagos Mainland are currently facing a torrid time using some roads in the area as the popular Ogba bus stop including Caterpillar bus stop where a famous fast food is located is consumed by water.
At the moment, there is partial gridlock in the axis due to the slow movement of vehicles plying the axis.
Meanwhile, Agege community is not left out as some parts of the bus stop along Maternity Street are currently flooded. This was caused by waste left unattended to by the drainage channels which has now blocked the drainage.
Furthermore, InsideMainland learnt that some parts of Ikorodu road just after the Independence tunnel is also flooded due to the torrential rainfall.
