As the electioneering campaign for the forthcoming 2019 general elections draws nearer, aspirants seeking to represent their constituents at all levels of government have commenced promotional and awareness moves.
While some have combined use of billboards, banners and social channels to help their quest, some others have continued to engage stakeholders at all levels.
However, an aspirant, Dayo Israel, seeking to represent Lagos Mainland Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is visibly raged as hoodlums allegedly destroyed his campaign billboard in Makoko overnight.
In a post shared via his Twitter handle, Dayo expressed his displeasure at the development saying; “Who is threatened by our aspiration. In the same Party, people are fighting other aspirants. Our billboard burnt down overnight in Makoko. This is ridiculous and unprogressive.”
Dayo who stated that he remains undeterred noted further that; “But we are undeterred and focused on the goal, to restore hope and deliver dividend of democracy. #nottooyoungtorun bill is not enough, political parties must promote internal democracy and level playing field for all aspirant.”
He concluded saying “a situation where the party chairman wears the cap of a particular candidate everywhere does not provides confidence in the process in the open primaries.”
