Festac Link Bridge to be shut for 30 days from today, See diversion details

In the aftermath of the inferno in December 2017 which affected parts of the Festac Link bridge, the government has announced plans to shut the bridge for repairs from today, Monday, August 6, 2018, to August to Monday, October 15, 2018.

Recall that the bridge whose repairs kicked off in January 2018 and has been was close for some periods earlier in June 2018.

According to the management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), there will be a partial closure of the bridge to enable the construction company put finishing touches on the repair work.

While appealing to motorists to use provided alternatives routes, the LASTMA management urged motorists “coming out of Festac town from 1st Ave, 2nd Ave, 11th Ave & 21 Rd, to make use of the link bridge to connect Apple-junction.”

Also, motorists driving into “Festac town from Oshodi, Cele, Ago Palace Way & 2nd Rainbow, are advised to link Durbar Rd enroute Mazamaza Bridge to Festac 1st Gate into Festac town.

“Motorists coming from Oshodi and Cele can make use of Mile2, to connect Festac through Mazamaza Bridge-Festac 1st Gate.”

Meanwhile, the agency noted that “LASTMA personnel shall be at all strategic points and junctions to control and manage traffic in order to reduce travel time and delays.”

Motorists are urged to cooperate with personnel on ground, and comply with traffic rules and regulations during the exercise and at all times.
