Weeks after declaring his intention to run for office in the forthcoming general elections in 2019 as the Federal lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in the National Assembly, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, has disclosed that he his shelving the plans to contest.
According to Bamigbetan, he is stepping down for another contestant running under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Habeeb Anibaba.
Commenting on the reason for cutting short his ambition to run for the Federal House of Representatives in 2019, Bamigbetan said his decision to step down is a blessing to his constituency as it translates to getting more people involved in politics rather than substituting one person for numerous positions.
With this decision as he said, he has created an avenue for another person from his constituency to bring dividend of democracy from the federal level to the people of the community while he (Bamigbetan) remains in the cabinet of Lagos State Government.
In his words; “Politics involves strategy for power. Sometimes, ambition can becloud that strategy. My decision to stay on as a member of the Lagos State Executive Committee rather than pursue the ticket for the Federal House of Representatives is one development that has attracted some analysis.
“The idea is to add rather than substitute one position with another. That addition, will be executed when Mr. Habeeb Anibaba is elected as the Member, House of Representatives, Oshodi-isolo Constituency II.”
While urging residents and stakeholders to mobilize support for Hon. Anibaba, the image maker of the Lagos State Government said the aspirant is a tenacious politician with good vision for the community he seeks to represent.
Recall that Bamigbetan had in April 2018 during his birthday celebrations declared his intention to contest for the seat representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II at the Federal House of representatives during 2019 general elections.
