A resident of Ijegun community, Lagos Mainland, Collins Oputa, has been arrested by the Police for alleged specialization in producing fake currency notes.
The suspect was arrested in Lagos by police of the Ogui Police Division of the Enugu State Command after securing the needed permit from the Lagos State Command.
According to the Police, the suspect was apprehended on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in his residence in Ijegun after trailing him for several months.
“Oputa, who claimed that he is a native of Ohaji community in Imo State, but residing at 4 Fatimo Close in Ijegun, Lagos State, was nabbed in Lagos,” the Police said.
The Police added that his arrest followed a manhunt initiated based on intelligence information gathered on his alleged criminal activities of producing and giving the fake currency naira notes to his agents for circulation.
Upon his arrest, some currency notes were found on the suspect and would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
