Few days after Nigerian rapper, Ruggedman who has been at the forefront of the fight against the harassment and abuse of residents by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) made a public video on how to identify fake persons parading themselves as officers of the unit, recent developments have shown the first set of impersonators who are parading themselves as genuine officers.
In a video which surfaced on social networking site, Instagram, residents of Ijegun community, Lagos Mainland, allegedly caught fake persons parading themselves as SARS operatives who drove into the area to make illegal arrests.
The two suspected fake SARS operatives got more than they bargained for as they were mercilessly beaten and chased away from the area.
The reportedly stormed the area on a motorcycle in their SARS shirts, in a bid to harass and extort people.
However, the residents asked them to identify themselves and they were unable to provide any form of identification. They were subsequently mobbed before running for dear life.
