Over the years, some dubious citizens fond of making money at all costs have perfected the art of impersonating popular figures including people in public offices and government agencies. While the act continues by some citizens, security operatives have overtime arrested perpetrators of the act.
Similarly, the operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have nabbed a notorious tout who has perfected the act of impersonating the officials of the agency.
The suspect, Abiodun Adeleye was apprehended by the enforcement team of the Agency under the Mile 12 bridge, Lagos Mainland, after he had illegally arrested a Toyota Camry with registration number MUS 319 DL for obstruction and collected N3000 fine from the owner of the vehicle.
Speaking on the incident, The Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, in a statement said the Agency recovered a Motorola GP 340 security walkie-talkie and the N3000 the suspect collected from the owner of the impounded car.
He stated further that the Agency had been inundated with complaints from motorists about illegal activities of these unscrupulous elements, saying that the Agency would ensure the impersonators are properly dealt with.
According to the Task Force, the impersonator confessed to having collected the N3000 adding that he makes an average of N15,000 to N30,000 daily from his illegal activities around Ketu and Mile 12 under bridge respectively.
In his comment, the owner of the illegally impounded Toyota Camry, Mr. Balogun Adebayo said; “The man charged me N15,000 for the traffic offence he claimed I have committed under Mile 12 bridge but I was able to raise N3000 which he collected from me.”
