In the aftermath of the killing of a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nurudeen Olanose, during the party’s Ward Congress which held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, security operatives have arrested and detained former Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr Jubreel Abdul-Kareem.
Recall that the Ward Congress which held at Central Primary School, Oniwaya, Agege, Lagos Mainland, was thrown into chaos when gunmen allegedly belonging to a camp in the party fired sporadic shots leading to the death of Olanose.
Earlier, the Police who fired tear gas to disperse the crowd at the scene had arrested Abdul-Kareem’s driver, Bosun Adigun and two others over the incident. Adigun was alleged to have fired the shot that killed Olanose.
Sources said Police later arrested Abdul-Kareem and is currently being detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos Mainland.
Political leaders and other stakeholders in Agege have however condemned the killing stressing that the development would be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators brought to justice.
