Weeks after popular international celebrities, Skepta, J.Cole, Naomi Campbell and prolific actor, John Boyega stormed the city of Lagos at different times, information reaching us at InsideMainland has it that two Hollywood celebrities have concluded plans to shoot multi-million dollar worth movies in the state.
InsideMainland gathered that multiple award winning Kenya born actress, Lupita Nyong’o and John Boyega would be visiting communities across Lagos Mainland and the state at large to shoot their various movies before the end of 2018.
Commenting on the development, the Lagos State Commissioner Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde said: “Recently John Boyega, a British-Nigerian made his intention known to make a film which has a budget of about $25million (about N9billion). Also Lupita Nyong’o, a Kenyan born Hollywood actress will be shooting a film based on the adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s novel ‘Americanah’ in Lagos and the budget for the film is even much bigger. We cannot quantify what the economic benefits of this would be.”
Ayorinde added that; “The plan by the actors would further boost the State’s economy and generate employment for those in the movie business,” the Lagos State Commissioner Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde said.
Recall that Lagos had continued to attract visitors from all over the globe due to its commercial activities and tourism potentials. Recently, the state was ranked as number one tourism destination in Africa for British residents ahead of South Africa and Kenya.
